Investing in Your Education: The Value of Wharton’s EMBA Program

March 10, 2011

What does it mean to be the world’s most expensive MBA program?   While it is a significant cost, students and their sponsors get tremendous value from our program.  Wharton EMBA students on both coasts receive the same education as our full-time MBA students.  They are taught the same classes by the same professors for the same number of hours. They also are held to the same standards of performance and intellectual rigor.  This is the full Wharton MBA program offered in a format to accommodate the schedules of busy executives.

In addition to a world-class education, the tuition includes an exceptionally high number of contact hours with our faculty who are knowledge leaders in their fields.  Not only do they teach classes, they also share meals with students, making themselves available well beyond the classroom hours.  And because this is a residential program, the tuition includes room and board.  On class weekends, students stay either at our executive residence facility in Philadelphia or a high-end hotel in San Francisco.  The cost of the program, when normalized in terms of everything it includes, is actually comparable to our peer institutions. (In addition to text books, this year's incoming class will receive an iPad loaded with classroom material.)

Wharton MBA for Executive students also find great value in the networking that is fostered by our residential format.  Our students have an average of 10 years of work experience in a diversity of industries, bringing an impressive breadth of knowledge and experience into their classes.  Students learn from and support each other, forging lasting bonds and creating a global network during their 24 months in the program.  Sponsoring employers likewise benefit from our program, as their top employees can continue working while immediately applying knowledge from classes each week to their jobs.  When it comes to ROI, Wharton’s MBA Program for Executives sets a very high standard.
