Prof. Eliashberg to Present on Predicting Box Office Success at Wharton EMBA EventApril 24, 2012
How can movie executives predict whether a film will be a hit or a flop? What is involved in marketing movies effectively? How can studios improve the way they green-light scripts? If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the business of movies, Wharton’s MBA for Executives Program is hosting a unique event on this topic on May 30 in Hollywood, Calif. featuring Prof. Jehoshua Eliashberg.
Eliashberg will share his groundbreaking work in bringing “science” to the movie industry, discussing everything from script approvals to marketing to predicting box office performance. In addition to reflecting on his experience with movie exhibitors and distributors, he’ll also present his recently developed scripts-based film valuation, which he and his colleagues created for movie producers.
A professor in Wharton’s Marketing Department for 30 years, Eliashberg is renowned for his work on developing models and methodologies to solve business problems. While his research covers a diverse array of issues, he has a particular interest in the media and entertainment industry. His work has been featured in news publications around the world including BusinessWeek, The Financial Times, Forbes, Fortune, Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, and Variety.
The event, held at The W Hollywood from 6:00pm - 9:00pm, will include opportunities for networking with Wharton alumni, current students and industry professionals as well as Eliashberg’s presentation and Q&A session.
